Metallic colour photographic print of dawn in Canary Wharf seen from Greenwich, London. Unframed, unmounted, with white borders.
London's ever-growing new financial district of Canary Wharf is a surreal sight seen from the the traditional borough of Greenwich. Even more so when the entrance to Greenwich's underpass is lit from within by pulsing lights drawing Christmas decoration shapes on its semi-transparent glass dome. On this one occasion, the colours being projected inside the dome played beautifully with the crimson tinted clouds in the morning sky.
The choice of print paper is judicious: the metallic quality of this paper really makes the metal support of the dome and the shiny metal building structures at the back "pop". This image is printed on Kodak Metallic, an extra smooth, medium gloss C-Type professional photographic archival paper, 242gsm in weight.
Print life: 40 years exposed to daylight, 80 years in archival conditions.
Date shot: 25th December 2015.
